Prayer and love

So the other day I was curious about Carson's understanding of prayer and Heavenly Father. So after a prayer I asked him if he knew who we was praying to and he said "Heavenly Father". I then asked him if he knew what he looked like and he said, "Like Jesus". I then asked him if he thinks about what Heavenly Father looks like when he says his prayers and he said he did, then I asked him what color were His clothes and he said, "white". That was a wonderful, happy, parenting moment. You wonder how much of your understanding and testimony of gospel principles actually comes through to your children. Carson is a very smart little guy and I am so proud of him and all that he is learning. He is a good kid and I am a very lucky mother. I have two beautiful children and I love them very much. This is the valentine's breakfast I made them yesterday.

Little minds at work

Wow the imaginations and the amount of things and concepts learned at 3 is amazing. So the other day Briley and I are at home hanging out and Briley wants me to play with her as always. I was rearranging furniture as was Briley and then after rearranging the furniture to look like table and chairs, she says to me "You be the boy and I be the girl k! You sit over there and you think I am pretty" then she proceeds to act out her girl part very well with the ol i am acting shy and i know you are looking at me pose, so i proceed to play a long and she proceeds to have this pretend vision of playing like we are out to dinner on a date or something and is talking to the pretend waiter and flirting and pretending the girl on a date part so well. It was so hilarious i can not even tell how fun it is to be a mom and watch as these little beings of ours start to figure it all out and put their little spin on life as we know it.
And Carson is just getting so smart and really starting to ask good valid questions about things. Like today, we went to our in-law's ward for church for cousin Dexter's blessing. On our way there we tell the kids we are staying for all of the church meetings. Carson then asks if they teach the same thing and if it is just like our church. It was a great teaching opportunity for us as parents. We informed him that is is exactly the same just different people and all that jazz. It was good!
I love being a parent, and though my patience is tried and my ability to teach these kids is challenged daily, they bring so much joy to the ride that it just wouldn't be as good without them! So grateful for my wonderful eternal family!

First day!

First day of First grade! So excited!! (back in September). Carson really likes his teacher Mrs. Wiesmore. (it was Miss Bergner, but she got married). And mom and dad really like her too. He is doing great with his math and spelling tests and really does a great job with his comprehension and is learning more and more and doing better and better every day on his reading! First grade is pretty great.

His picture of himself is a pretty good replica of himself don't you think?! He is a darn good artist!

Briley also started a Preschool this year. It is like a Joy school where us moms rotate and do the teaching every few weeks. It has been a good experience for Briley and mom both. And a lot cheaper! Briley loves it and is doing a good job at learning more and more every day!

Catch up on FIRST lost tooth!

Carson lost his first tooth shortly before 1st grade this last year! Mom had to sneakily pull it out since he was very nervous about it hurting. But we survived and he was sure proud of the new development.

He has since lost his other bottom tooth and just this last weekend decided to be brave and pull out his top tooth this time all by himself. Let me tell you it was a dramatized experience that lasted over an hour. We started to video it but once the video hit about 20 min we decided to turn it off. And only after mom bumped his tooth did he finally with MUCH encouragement pull it out on his own. And guess what he said- "it didn't even hurt". Go figure mom and dad do know what they are talking about!

If you look close Carson twisted the tooth with his tongue and turned it backwards and sideways- I was so tempted to just yank it out myself it was so loose. So now we have Toothless Joe happy that it is finally out!

We got lucky to get a picture with Woody and Jesse together. They were really cute teasing each other and all. The kids loved it.

We really liked the Toy Story ride! Too bad it always had a long line or we would have done it more!

So Briley LOVED The Little Mermaid ride, we went on it multiple times. Good thing it was a fast moving one!

The Cars ride is not quite ready yet but got a cute pic with the stars!

The kids really liked the Bugs Life part of California Adventures. Just their size!

Then thanks to Brittany and her special friend we got a special showing with our new favorite Disney duo Rapunsel and Flinn!

Briley was a little star struck sadly but now talks about seeing her with excitement!

Carson got to chill with Flinn. They did a really good job staying in character, it was fun!

It was a fun day and we were glad Jessica, mom, dad, Scott, Brittany, and Camden came to join us in the fun!

So today Bryce and I celebrate 9 years since our wedding day! Wow times really flies!! I love Bryce so very much and I am so grateful to have him in my life and for the family we have created along the way! We have two beautiful children, great jobs, a beautiful home, wonderful family and friends all around us and a strong eternal marriage! So much to be thankful for. To my husband: thank you for loving me, for supporting me, for working hard in life and at our marriage even through the hard times!! I LOVE YOU!!!

So if any of you have been checking our blog to see if I have posted any updates or pictures, I am sorry! We have been busy for one and then we have been having Internet & computer issues galore!!!! So needless to say I have lost my steam for now til we get it all worked out. Swimming Lessons

Just hung out with Grandma and Grandpa Olsen and Jessica for the evening. Grandpa put on a fun display of fireworks for us!! The kids loved it!! Carson is so boy- he would say "that was weak" or "that was awesome" depending on how big the firework was! It was great.

In June we got to see Avery, Aspen, Brian and Bonnie for a day or two. So we went over to Shoshone Falls since the water has been flowin great this year. The kids had a fun day playing with each other.

Sunday afternoon trip over to Star Falls just past Murtaugh, ID. It is a fast moving falls that you can walk right up to. Amazing- especially with all this water coming down. We had fun hiking around in trails around it & feeling the mist off the water. Mother nature can be pretty wonderful sometimes & right in our own back yard basically too!!

Ok so just picture this in about 10 years! All these girls packed in a car drivin around town!! Scary I know!!! Especially with Brittley behind the wheel and the boys causing trouble in the backgound. J/K They were giggling so hard- it was so cute especially with the ice cream faces!! We had the local Kevin Stanger bunch over to our house for dinner/family night. It was a lot of fun. We need to do it more often!!

Ok so almost every day now Briley has to dress up like a princess or more recently a ballerina. This little tutu dance dress is one of Aunt Jessicas that we had to take over for a while after discovering it at Grandma Olsen's house. The other day Jessica was getting ready for the Prom and of course Briley had to dress like a princess too! She even had to have eyeshadow "eyes" and lipgloss "lips" and hair up and and a necklace and a flower on her arm "like Jessica" The cutest thing ever. She was soaking it all in. I couldn't help but smile and laugh at how focused and in to the role she was. Even when Jessica's date came to take pictures Briley was right there next to Jessica posing for pictures. Then we went to the Prominade to see everyone and she of course had to stay dressed up for the dance! She even commented on the dresses she liked. Afterwords when we left to the cars she said "That fun mommy"! LOVE IT!
So in this picture she was remembering that night and she of course had to have a necklace and a flower on her arm and hold a flower too. (At the prominade the girls were given long stem roses from their dates wich Jessica let Briley have).
Typical dress up conversation:
Briley: " I Cinderella (or whatever princess of the day) and you ... Snow White (princess) k"
Me: "ok"
Briley: "Hi Snow White"
Me: "Hi Cinderella"
Lately since I watched a dancing ballerina show with her she is a "Bal-ina" Again I love it!

I am grateful for the way the Lord provides a way to hear, know, etc. what you need to hear and know when you need it most even if you don't pray about it and it is just a tug on your mind or in your heart. The last few days have been inspiring and much needed lift for some internal struggles through various simple things!

So sorry to those who go to my blog to check and see if I have updated and I have not. I started thinking about it and was wondering why myself. I think part of it is that I am not very efficient with the process, but I think the biggest thing is that I am not very good at it, not that it is a competition or anything, it is just that I am not that interesting according to me. I usually don't have anything profound to say or ramblings that are hilarious. I need to just post sometimes just to do it, but I am lazy in effort or I don't feel it important enough or if I do have some thought or fun thing my child said or something I just either forget about it too quickly or i don't know!!! Blah Blah Blah I know. Anyway, I do appreciate the postings of those I care about and continue to check blogs periodically. I still haven't gotten into the craze of facebook either, I look through facebook posts often but don't often make random comments for whatever reason. So, whenever anyone can figure me out and get me socially network savvy it may be a good day!! Good luck!!

It is our 8th anniversary today!! I am very grateful for my husband and family. I was thinking today about how it was feeling like just another same ol same ol day. Feed the kids, clean up after kids, laundry, shovel snow in my pjs, create shopping list, clean house, Bryce at work, ect. But then I started thinking that really this was the dream all along. Have kids, tend my own house, have a wonderful husband, etc.! So this day I truly am grateful for the joys in my life. Happy Anniversary honey!! It is so fun to see him accomplish and discover daily!! We have our first parent-teacher conference tonight so I hope it is a good report. He is getting better about telling me what he did at school. He is a man of little words when it comes to explaining. I ask him often and the same response is "I don't know" or "nothing". But I eventually get a little information to go on. I love Carson and have enjoyed his enjoyment of learning- I hope it always continues!!

Stitches and all!! We went to Grandmas to have dinner and birthday ice cream on her BD (March 18th). Briley got to open one present before she tripped and hit her forhead just right and hard enough we had to visit the ER to get 6 stitches. She was a good sport. We even came back and continued a small BD celebration. Happy birthday Briley!! This will be one to remember!!

So tonight I decided to let Carson brush his own teeth- get the toothpaste on & brush on his own. I am trying to help him be more independent now that he is turning five. Well, I go in the bathroom to check on him & he was brushing, but with ICY-HOT. Poor kid, I don't know how he got a hold of that. Anyway, called poison control- (all good), did a little toothpaste identification lesson & rebrushed with real toothpaste. I tell ya some days I just don't know. Then there is miss Briley who is too independent. Everything is "I do it" "I choose"- her favorite phrase right now is "Can I have it?" Love these crazy munchkins!!

These were taken the other day of our old living room space being opened up to our new living space. The other picture is of the new hallway leading to the new bedrooms, laundary room and bathroom. It use to be Briley's closet space. They put the windows in yesterday & the electrician is going to finish his work next week so they can start insulation, siding, & drywall. It is finally starting to come along. We aren't going to be in it by Christmas since they are behind schedule so I am keeping my fingers crossed for the end of the year!!!

I Did it!!!!

So yesterday was my run & I did it!! We went up to Boise to run the Prison Break half marathon which is 13.1 miles. I ran a little better than I thought I would especially with how cold & windy it was. My goal was to run it in 2 hours 40-45 min. My time was 2 hr 40min & ?seconds. So I made my goal time. Let me remind you all that I am not fast & that is ok I was just running to finish & accomplish a goal I had set for myself. My Dad asked me if I was going to run another one & I don't quite know- too soon to tell!! I will keep running a little though.

Yep- in case anyone was wondering if I was still running, I am!! In fact the half marathon is in a couple of weeks. I hope can make it through the last 2 miles. It is 13.1 miles and I can do 10 ok, but the last 2 miles were hard on me the time I ran 13. We will see. I took my parents dog with me yesterday when I ran 10 miles. Lets just say I don't think he knew what he was getting into. My mom had to give him an asprin last night!! Ha, Ha!! Wish me luck. I don't care how fast I go, just as long as I finish!!

So I just have to toot my own horn here. I just ran 8 miles on Friday!!! That is a great fiat for me. I have never ran that far before EVER & I didn't stop at all!! I also ran 6 miles last week. I hope my body will let me keep this up because this has been a great experience being able to push myself to make it happen. I will have to post some of our latest pictures of the kids and the family next time because I forgot my camera!

So I decided to start running! Actually I decided to start training for a half marathon. Yes you heard me right. My roommate from college ran one this year and she inspired me(thanks Rian!!). So I started running 2 wks ago. So I haven't ran in like 2+years and I haven't done too bad. I haven't gotten any faster, but I am still running & on Saturday when I run one of my longer runs I felt like I could keep going. So I will keep you posted. By my running schedule I am suppose to be able to run 8 miles in 3 weeks from yesterday so we will see how it goes!! Anyone want to come running!! Seriously it is always better with a running partner!

Yesterday was my birthday. I turned 28- crazy! It was a good day. I got to go to lunch with my good friend Amanda, Bryce took me to dinner after the priesthood session of conference, I got to go shopping on Friday for myself-all by myself:), & Carson helped dad make me a cake. This girl is always so busy. She loves to climb. She climbs over your lets, under your legs like a bridge and anything else that is climbable. I was taking her changing table out of her room, because it isn't very useful to us anymore, since again she just wants to climb and squirm while she is on it. And she decided that she could climb in it and got stuck in there. She also likes to stand on her head so these pictures were perfect.

Carson turned 3 on March 1st. He is getting so big. It is amazing what those little brains absorb. He is still going to daycare 2 days a week and loves it. He really wants to be big enough to go to school. Christmas will be fun this year with him.
Briley Jo was born on March 18th. Delivery went well. I had to had an emergency c-section with Carson, but I was able to have Briley naturally. And when I say naturally that is what I mean. I labored a lot at home and had her within an hour after arriving at the hospital. It has been so fun to have a little girl, bows, dresses and the works. She is little miss independent and in such a hurry to grow up.
Bryce has been busy working at Gem State Paper. He is such a great dad. He played on a city league flag football team this fall and had a lot of fun. He survived the whole season with no injuries, then on Thanksgiving day family and friends got together to play a game and he ended up with a broken wrist. So he is now sporting a beautiful black cast!
As for me, just trying to stay afloat! Still working, 2 days a week. I am in our ward primary presidency. It has been a good experience. Other than that it is just go, go, go everyday; laundary, housework, shopping, playing with the kids, etc.

Carson has been wanting Briley to ride in his truck with him so bad so last month we put the boppy around her and let him drive her around the house. It was pretty cute. Then the other day he fell asleep in his truck driving. Bryce went out to have him come inside and saw him just sitting there bobbing his head to his radio, but when he got closer, it wasn't the music he was bobbing to- he has sound asleep. It was so hilarious.

We went to Bear Lake for a family vacation a few weeks ago & took 4-wheelers instead of a boat due to unpredicable weather. It was fun. We found a place were we just drove the 4-wheelers right up onto the beach.

In fact since having Briley, every time he holds her or lays by her he thinks I need to take a picture of them. It is pretty cute. He sure loves his little sister. She is patient with him too.
